So, in the surprise of the century (alright, dramatic, much, Mel?), Sonic The Hedgehog has actually not bombed in its opening weekend at the box office like we all expected. Oh, don’t lie – you did not think it would be a stealth winner and look to beat DC’s Birds Of Prey. You thought, following that first trailer, that it was destined to spend a couple weeks languishing at the box office like Cats (which is reported to be on track to lose $71million [£54m]) and become the next joke fodder for all the Hollywood rascals who like to poke fun at failures. It’s just, well, judging by the reaction to the first trailer released of the gaming-inspired flick – which was hurriedly edited ahead of its second trailer, with the release date pushed back to take into account the barrage of critiques from fans – I wasn’t expecting it to land on its feet and speed run down the road quite like it has. Craig Bouchard, who is, according to the company, no longer Braidy Industries’ CEO or Chairman of the Board and is merely a board member, says he wants to pursue foreign strategic partners representing patient capital “that will stay with us for generations,” according to his Facebook post. Bouchard said some of the directors want to focus on finding American private equity investment. He, though, said that’s not the route to go. This in-house disagreement reached the surface — and the public eye — when Business Wire first reported Thursday that Bouchard had stepped down, according to Braidy Industries, as CEO and Chairman of the Board. A Grieving Father Is Standing Trial for Criticizing a Judge on Facebook

A Michigan man was jailed last month on a $500,000 bond after writing critical posts on Facebook about the judge who denied him custody of his son. Jonathan Vanderhagen, 35, is now standing trial for malicious use of telecommunication services. The saga began two years ago when Vanderhagen petitioned Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Rachel Rancilio for sole custody of his 2-year-old son, Killian. Vanderhagen argued that Killian’s biological mother was unfit to be Killian’s sole guardian. Judge Rancilio disagreed and the child’s mother was able to retain custody.  Shortly after the custody dispute, Killian passed away in his mother’s care from what authorities concluded was a preexisting medical condition. Despite that conclusion, Vanderhagen believed that Killian would still be alive had he been granted custody. Since his son’s death in 2017, Vanderhagen has used his Facebook page to criticize Rancilio’s custody ruling. When Bower opens at 771 Beacon St. this spring, the twin-towered residential development will not only include sustainability elements that consider the environment, but “biophilic” ones to improve its residents’ health and happiness. Bower is the first phase of the long-mooted Fenway Center mixed-use, transit-oriented development abutting Lansdowne Station on the commuter rail a mere quarter of a mile from Fenway Park. The 312 apartments are projected to be completed in June. Biophilic design focuses on establishing connections to nature within buildings and is said to improve brain function. It can be something as simple as adding plants, but Bower won’t just include a green wall and call it good. “It’s really an application of a principle throughout the design process,” said Kelly Saito, managing partner of Gerding Edlen, developers of Bower along with Meredith Management and Nuveen. “A green wall is the low-hanging [fruit] of biophilic design. It’s been more than 10 years since Congress passed the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA). In doing so, they put the age of inefficient incandescent lighting on notice. The law mandated strict new energy standards designed to kick-start a new era of greener, longer-lasting, more cost-efficient light bulbs — and that meant kicking outdated, inefficient bulbs to the curb. The rising standards have already long rendered 100W and 75W incandescents obsolete, and in 2014, their 60W and 40W cousins met the same fate. Congressional budget waffling briefly seemed to put the new standards on hold, but it was largely too late — the industry had already moved on, and wasn’t interested in reversing course. The Glia project aims to create a suite of free and open-source medical equipment that can be assembled cheaply and easily when and where it’s needed.
